About the Role

Ashipa Electric is seeking a dynamic and driven Business Development Associate to lead and grow our mini-grid and C&I solar business.
This is a strategic role responsible for identifying, developing, and managing new business opportunities across Nigeria and subSaharan Africa.
The ideal candidate will have an engineering background, an MBA, and a strong passion for clean energy and impact.
The successful candidate will initially manage all aspects of business development, from market research to deal closure, and will eventually build and lead a business development team.


Key Responsibilities

Business Development and Sales

Drive new business opportunities across mini-grid and C&I segments.
Identify and qualify leads, cultivate relationships with potential clients, and convert opportunities into signed contracts.
Develop go-to-market strategies and segment-specific business plans.
Prepare compelling proposals, presentations, and pitch materials for various client segments.
Represent Ashipa Electric at conferences, exhibitions, and client meetings.


Project Development

Conduct project feasibility assessments including site visits, load assessments, financial modelling, and technical scoping.
Collaborate with engineering, finance, and operations teams to structure commercially viable solutions.
Support regulatory and permitting processes for new projects.
Lead the negotiation of commercial terms and project agreements.


Strategy and Leadership

Work closely with the CEO to shape business development strategies aligned with company growth objectives.
Establish internal processes and tools for tracking leads, pipeline, and performance metrics.
Build and manage a high-performing team as the portfolio expands.
Provide regular reports on business development activities and pipeline status to senior leadership.


Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related field) required.
Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) required.
4–6 years of experience in business development, preferably in the renewable energy or infrastructure sector.
Strong technical understanding of solar PV systems (mini-grid and/or C&I).
Proficiency in financial modelling and deal structuring.
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to work independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Willingness to travel as needed within Nigeria and the West African sub-region.
