Residents of Lagos State have been urged to take advantage of Ilera Eko Health and Social Insurance Scheme to enhance their personal wellbeing, as well as promote a healthier environment to dwell.

Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), Dr. Emmanuella Zamba, made the appeal during a press conference on LASHMA’s First Quarter Media Parley On Ilera Eko Social Health Insurance Scheme, at Alausa, Ikeja, on Wednesday.

While updating the media on the Ilera Eko Health Scheme and other strategic interventions so far, Dr. Zamba said:

“Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu brought out an Executive Order in July, 2024, and that Executive Order has made Ilera Eko mandatory for all residents of Lagos State.

“Now, this social health insurance plan is the most affordable qualitative plan that you can get anywhere for just a token amount of 15,000 per individual.

“You will be able to get benefits such as general out-patients treatment. You have a cough, you have a fever, you have malaria, your child is ill, they will treat you.”

She said that the state government’s goal is to ensure that Ilera-Eko remains at the forefront of public consciousness and that more Lagos residents enroll onto the scheme. According to Zamba: “It is a strategic initiative designed to bring the informal sector on board by providing flexible payment options – for artisans, traders and low-income earners.”
