The Director General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) Silas Agara, has disclosed that the directorate has successfully trained no fewer than 33,692 youths across Nigeria within the last three months.

Of this number, according to the DG, 5,532 have been resettled with loans and starter packs under the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative.

The Director General disclosed this in Benin during the resettlement/closing ceremony of the agency’s skills acquisition programme, which commenced across Nigeria in December 2024.

Represented by the Edo State Coordinator of NDE, Mr Chibuzo Okoronkwo, the DG said the programme was designed to create employment opportunities among Nigerian youths, women, and physically challenged persons.

“The Renewed Hope Employment Initiative is designed to create employment opportunities, support the establishment of small-scale enterprises, promote agricultural productivity, improve rural infrastructure and provide transient jobs, which would in-turn foster economic growth and empower our communities.

“The Initiative commenced in December 6, 2024, while training of selected beneficiaries started in December 9, 2024.

“Over the past 3 months, the Directorate has successfully trained Thirty-Three Thousand, Six Hundred and Ninety-Two (33,692) unemployed Nigerian youths, women and Persons Living with Disabilities.

“These youths were trained with in-demand skills across Vocational Skills training, entrepreneurship and business management training, Agricultural Skills Training and activities within the Public Works sector in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
