LAGOS – The Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas (ANPA), the black diaspora professional organisation, representing the interest of over 8,000 physicians and dentists of Nigerian descent practicing in the United States, has unveiled plans to host the ANPA Week 2025 in Lagos.

A statement by Cliff Eke, President, ANPA, said that the aim of the 2025 Week was to empower healthcare transformation in Lagos through knowledge and skills transfer, trainings, capacity building, care delivery service, and advocacy.

The 2025 edition of the ANPA Week is with the theme: ‘Transforming Healthcare: Empowering Physicians, Strengthening Systems.’

The event, which would hold from April 4 to April 9, 2025, would bring together Nigerian and diaspora physicians, healthcare professionals, policymakers, and advocates from around the world to focus on advancing healthcare in Nigeria and across Africa.

As a major platform for collaboration and advocacy, ANPA Week would highlight the role of healthcare professionals in improving care delivery, enhancing capacity, and driving positive change in Nigeria’s healthcare systems.

Eke explained that the ANPA Week 2025 activities included improving healthcare delivery across Nigeria, strengthening capacity and professional development, advocating for health systems strengthening and policy reforms, enhancing collaborative partnerships for sustainable healthcare and empowering the next generation of healthcare leaders.

According to him, in recognising the importance of nurturing young medical talent, the ANPA Week would feature programmes designed to inspire and mentor the next generation of Nigerian healthcare leaders.

He expressed that with dedicated sessions for medical students, residents, and early-career physicians, ANPA aimed to cultivate a new wave of healthcare professionals equipped to address the challenges of modern healthcare.
