The Zaar Youth Development Association has trained girls between the ages of 11 and 20 on menstrual hygiene in Bauchi State.

Speaking at the event, the convener of the training, who is the office holder of Miss Zaar, Manyar Alkamu, noted that the sanitary pads distributed to the about 200 participants was a complement to the training.

She explained that “The reason for the training is to create awareness on menstrual hygiene to my fellow gender from age 11 and 20 years of age.

“My aim is to erase or take away any stigma among the girls that may make them feel shy.

“I want them to understand their value as a female. I want them to understand that as a female, they have a say in a particular community and make sure mensuration should not be a challenge to set them back on their future.”

Manyar advised parents to establish a good relationship with their girl-child.

On her part, the keynote speaker at the training, Charity Solomon, emphasised the need for the girls to dream big beyond borders.

She said to be able to dream big and contribute to humanity, “you need to be intentional in education.
