The Coroner Court sitting in Ikorodu, Lagos, has been urged by Azeez Adeshina Fashola, otherwise known as Naira Marley, to shift focus away from the suspects identified by the police and social media and instead interrogate Omowunmi Aloba, Mohbad’s wife, and fourteen others who were present in the house 48 to 72 hours before the singer’s death.

He said this before the court presided over by Ms. T.A. Shotobi, during the proceedings into inquiry on the controversial death of Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Promise Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

While testifying virtually, Naira Marley, stated that he was out of the country at the time of Mohbad’s death and maintained that he had no animosity towards the late singer. He clarified the nature of his contractual relationship with Mohbad before his passing.

Significantly, Naira Marley urged the coroner to shift focus away from the suspects identified by the police and social media and instead interrogate Omowunmi Aloba, Mohbad’s wife, and fourteen others who were present in the house 48 to 72 hours before the singer’s death.

He alleged that those who were with Mohbad in his final moments attempted to evade accountability by circulating an old video of the deceased.

According to him, the video in question was recorded in the past, and Mohbad had since apologized for it and was forgiven before leaving Marlian Records.

Meanwhile, the Concerned Nigeria Citizens in Diaspora (Justice for Mohbad), a group advocating for justice in the case, has called on the Nigeria Police Force’s homicide section to take Naira Marley’s testimony seriously. The group urged the police to invite and thoroughly question Omowunmi Aloba, who, according to them, has given multiple contradictory accounts of events leading to her husband’s death. They also called for an investigation into the other individuals present at the singer’s home, including his brother, Adura Aloba.

Based on Naira Marley’s testimony, the group has called for a comprehensive reinvestigation into the suspected homicide, emphasizing the need for the police to scrutinize all fifteen individuals, including the late singer’s wife.
