The Niger Delta Renaissance Network has dismissed recent allegations of killings and kidnappings against Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, and Dennis Otuaro, describing them as a smear campaign orchestrated by oil thieves.

The group, in a statement issued on Saturday by its spokesman, Gabriel Aniete, alleged that the accusations, which have been making the rounds in the media, were sponsored by those benefiting from illegal oil bunkering activities in the region.

Aniete insisted that the CEO of Tantita Security Services, Tompolo, and the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Otuaro, and were being targeted because of their roles in tackling oil theft and maintaining peace in the Niger Delta.

“The individual behind the viral video making these claims is being financially backed by oil thieves who want to undermine the credibility of Tompolo and Otuaro,” the statement read.
