The Women Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria has advocated for peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.

WOWICAN chairperson Elizabeth Azizi made the call at the 8th WOWICAN Annual Convention held in Bauchi.

At the event that brought together 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory, Elizabeth emphasised the need for peaceful coexistence, women empowerment, and leadership development.

She explained that the event, themed “Peace, Be Still,” brought together Christian women from across the region to foster unity, mutual support, and socio-economic empowerment.

According to Elizabeth, “The convention serves as a platform for women to strengthen their faith, exchange ideas, and find solutions to challenges affecting their homes and communities.

“Bringing women together in such a setting helps promote love, understanding, and personal growth.

“Many women face challenges at home and in society, but by coming together, they find solutions through prayers, learning, and sharing experiences.”

Also speaking at the event, WOWICAN Secretary Ruth Magaji stressed the significance of the theme, given the current socio-economic hardships in Nigeria.

She noted that “many families are facing difficult times, but faith remains a strong foundation for overcoming challenges.

“Storms are raging everywhere. Every family in Nigeria today is suffering from one problem or another.

“But like Jesus Christ calmed the storm, we believe that through faith and resilience, our homes and communities will experience peace.”
