Representatives from all 12 border communities in Osun State have been urged to collaborate with security agencies and the state government to prevent bandits from infiltrating the state.

These bandits are reportedly fleeing from military operations in northern Nigeria.

The call was made by the Special Adviser to the Osun Governor on Security Matters, Mr. Samuel Ojo, during a workshop organised by the state government.

The workshop brought together representatives from the 12 border communities and leaders from various security agencies in the state.

The participating communities included Ila-Odo, Owena, Imesi-Ile, Ifetedo, Araromi-Owu, Esa-Oke, Ikoyi-Asejire, Ife-Odan, Ifon-Osun, Iwo, Ikeji Ile, and Oke-Ila.

Also in attendance were the Commandant of the Nigeria Air Force Institute of Safety, Ipetu Ijesa; Group Captain Abdulkadir Bello; Lt. Colonel Yunusa Isyaku,; representative of the Commander, Engineering Construction Command, Nigerian Army, Ede; Tajudeen Akande, representative of the Osun State Commissioner of Police; and Corps Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps, Mr. Isaac Omoyele, among others.

In his address, Ojo emphasised that the goal of the workshop was to devise strategies that would prevent the infiltration of bandits and strengthen security in the Osun border communities and the state as a whole.

He also highlighted intelligence reports suggesting the influx of bandits fleeing from northern states.
