The Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, Gen Christopher Musa, has reiterated the Nigerian Armed Forces’ commitment to United Nations, UN, peacekeeping operations.

Musa made this pledge in Abuja while receiving the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, Mohammed Fall.

According to a statement by the Director of Defence Information, Brig.-Gen. Tukur Gusau, the CDS emphasized the importance of collaboration in global security efforts.


He urged the UN to “partner with state governments to ensure the return of displaced persons as well as refugees to their respective communities.”

Musa also highlighted the significance of civil-military relations, stating that it was “more impactful than kinetic means of operations.”

In response, Fall commended Nigeria’s contributions to UN peacekeeping missions, describing the military as “one of the greatest contributors” to such efforts.

He called for greater support for Nigeria’s role in regional stability, adding that the country remains crucial to the UN due to its leadership in Africa.
