The Taraba State Police Command said they have apprehended a suspect in possession of an AK-47 rifle and 25 rounds of live ammunition.

In a statement issued by the Command, officers from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), led by ASP Yakubu Adamu Bubble, acted on credible intelligence to arrest the suspect, identified as Yusufa Isah.

Police spokesperson Usman Abdullahi said the operation, carried out in collaboration with local hunters and vigilante groups, took place in Funawo Village, near Tella town in Gassol Local Government Area.

“During the arrest, law enforcement officers recovered the AK-47 rifle with breech number A1808M, along with 25 rounds of live ammunition and some charms found in the suspect’s possession.”

Commending the officers involved, Taraba State Commissioner of Police, CP Chukwudi C. Ariekpere, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to reducing crime across the state.

He assured residents of their safety and security while ordering a thorough investigation to identify and apprehend other members of the syndicate.

The command urged the public to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing timely and credible information to aid crime-fighting.
