A 20-room lone-storey building was on Wednesday destroyed by a sparkling fire that emanated from a gas cooker at the Oke-Apomu area in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State.

PUNCH Metro learnt on Thursday that the fire incident occurred at no 90 Koro Compound, Oke-Apomu area, Ilorin.

The incident, confirmed by the Kwara State Fire Service, witnessed the destruction of household materials including beds, bedding, clothes and other utensils.

A statement by the Head, Media and Publicity of the Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle, on Thursday, noted that firefighters attended to the incident promptly and professionally.
