The Forum of National Youth Leaders of All Political Parties in Nigeria (FNYLPPN) has demanded justice for the Ebonyi indigenes allegedly killed in Ogboji town, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra.

This was contained in an open letter addressed to Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra, Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi, and the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Sen. John Azuta-Mbata.

The letter, signed by the National Chairman of FNYLPPN, Mr Eze Chukwu, was issued on Wednesday in Abuja.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Anambra Police Command has launched an investigation into the killing of no fewer than 13 persons in Ogboji community, Orumba South Local Government Area of the state.

The victims were attacked by yet-to-be-identified assailants.

NAN gathered that the armed attackers stormed the area late on Monday in two Sports Utility Vehicles, opened fire on the victims during their monthly general meeting, and shot indiscriminately into the air.

Chukwu urged the concerned leaders to ensure justice, peace, and unity across Igboland.

“I write to you concerning the alleged heinous and senseless killing of innocent Ebonyi citizens who had gathered for a peaceful general meeting in Ogboji town, Orumba South LGA of Anambra.

“This incident is not just a criminal act; it is a moral affront to our shared humanity, the unity of Ndigbo, and the fundamental rights of every Nigerian to life, movement, and peaceful assembly.

“I call on you, Gov. Soludo, to use your good office as the Chief Security Officer of Anambra to ensure that the perpetrators of this barbaric act are swiftly identified, apprehended, and prosecuted.

“We also urge Gov. Nwifuru to rise in defence of the people of Ebonyi wherever they may reside in the South-East. Their safety and dignity must be non-negotiable.

“I call on all Igbo leaders, especially the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, to speak up and take action. There must be a regional dialogue to confront this painful reality and begin the healing process.

“Unity cannot thrive where hatred and discrimination are allowed to fester,” he said.

According to him, the lives of Ebonyi people should matter in Anambra, Enugu, Abia, Imo, and across the entire South-East and Nigeria at large.

“We have Anambra citizens in Ebonyi, and they have been treated with nothing short of hospitality.

“This letter is a call for justice, dignity, and solidarity. History will judge us by what we did, or failed to do at moments like this,” he added.

He stated that the alleged tragic and barbaric killing of Ebonyi citizens during a peaceful village meeting in Anambra is not just a tragedy, but a wake-up call.

Chukwu appealed to Gov. Nwifuru to initiate the immediate evacuation and relocation of Ebonyi citizens from communities in Anambra perceived as hostile.

“This is because they are being denied housing, refused access to shops, labelled as outsiders, and treated as second-class citizens. And now, they are being murdered in cold blood. Enough is enough,” he said.
