A devastating flood has wrecked havoc on some communities in Oyo State, destroying property alongside farmlands worth several millions of naira on Saturday.

Our correspondent gathered that some of the victims are currently taking refuge in the nearby communities.

One of the victims, Àkeem Olatunbosun, said, “The flood caught us unaware as it was never envisaged. We cannot quantify our losses which include farmland and other valuables.”

He, therefore, called on the State Government to come to their aid to mitigate the effect on their respective families.

In his condolence message, the state Road Maintenance Agency, on Sunday, expressed its deepest condolences to the families, friends, and loved ones of those affected by the flood.

A statement by its Chairman, Busoye Ogunlade, acknowledged the devastating impact of this natural disaster on communities, homes, and livelihoods.

“My heart goes out to everyone affected by the devastating flood. May the love and support of family and friends bring comfort during this difficult time.”

Ogunlade assured them of agency’s commitment to speedily work on ways to provide necessary assistance to forestall further occurrence.

“May the affected individuals and families find strength during this challenging time,” he prayed.
