Bandits numbering about 10 reportedly attacked Chito town in Adzendeshi Council Ward, Ukum Local Government Area, Benue State, on Saturday.

The attackers reportedly stormed the Tse-Mamkaa Compound at around 2:26 am. and unleashed terror on the residents for about one hour and thirty minutes.

They beat family members, ransacked homes, and made away with a variety of valuables, including clothes, footwear, food items, and kitchen supplies, down to basics such as salt, seasoning cubes, and flour.

In a formal complaint addressed to relevant authorities on Sunday, a lecturer at the Department of Political Science, College of Education, Katsina-Ala, Dr. Isaac H. Mamkaa stated that two family members, Timothy T. Mamkaa and Nathaniel Mwuesega Mamkaa, the head of the family, sustained injuries in the assault.

He said that the e household of their grandfather, Kur Sev Adudu, was also not spared.

Mamkaa raised concern over a warning reportedly issued by the assailants during the attack.

According to him, the criminals vowed to return for a second, more devastating assault.

“In view of the above… I appeal for your timely response and/or proactive action to avert the impending/looming calamity,” he pleaded in his letter to the authorities.

As of the time of filing this report, security agencies have yet to issue an official statement or make any arrests.
