As Muslims worldwide celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, the Chairman of Orolu Football Academy in Osun State, Olawale Afolabi, has called for peace and unity among the people of Ifon-Osun, Ilobu, and Erin-Osun, communities currently facing conflicts.

In a goodwill message to mark the festival, Afolabi urged the communities to use the occasion for reflection, reconciliation, and healing.

He appealed to them to rise above past divisions and animosities, stressing the importance of peace and dialogue.

Afolabi highlighted the significance of Eid-el-Kabir as a celebration of faith, obedience, and sacrifice.

He noted that the festival was aimed at commemorating the devotion of Prophet Ibrahim, who was prepared to sacrifice his most beloved possession in obedience to God’s command.

“Let us reject bitterness and rivalry in favour of unity. Our forefathers thrived on mutual respect and neighbourliness, and we must reclaim those values,” he stated.

The football promoter stated that sustainable development could not flourish in an atmosphere of discord, saying that the children of the communities deserved to inherit a region defined by shared opportunities and lasting peace.

“Our collective progress depends on harmony, and the future we desire for our children can only be achieved through unity,” he said.
