As Artificial Intelligence continues to transform industries across the globe, a software engineer and AI disruptor, Tunmise Oyekola, has called for a shift towards more ethical and inclusive innovation in the tech space.

“The most consequential innovations will be those designed not solely for utility, but for equity — technologies that empower, not exclude,” she said.

Oyekola stated that her goal was to build technologies that reflect both “functional excellence and ethical purpose,” a vision that places human welfare at the centre of digital progress.

Amid the global race for automation and advanced intelligence, Oyekola encouraged a pause, and a moment to reflect on the deeper social responsibilities tied to innovation.

“Technologists must ask: Are we building systems that include or exclude? Are we solving problems that matter to those most in need?” she asked.

Oyekola has spent the past seven years building cutting-edge software across fintech, education, and AI sectors.

In recognition of her contributions, she was named AI Leader Disruptor at the 2025 GLOBEE Awards and also received the Technical Team Leader of the Year (Africa) honour at the International Prime Awards.
