The Kano State Police Command said on Wednesday that it had arrested multiple suspects in connection with separate robbery and vehicle theft cases across the state, leading to the recovery of four stolen vehicles, a motorcycle, and other valuable items.

Spokesperson for the Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen, adding that the arrests were made between May 8 and May 28, 2025.

According to Kiyawa, one of the suspects, identified as Manassa Luper Israel, was arrested after allegedly stealing a white Mercedes Benz container truck from a resident in Abuja.

He narrated: “On May 23, 2025 at about 11:00 am, a report was received from a resident of Abuja that one Manassa Luper Israel, male, of the same address, stole his Mercedes Benz Container, white in color. The suspect was arrested in Kano while attempting to sell the vehicle. The vehicle was recovered,” the statement disclosed.

In another incident, police operatives acting on credible intelligence arrested a 23-year-old suspect identified as Murtala Wada of Hotoro, Ladanai Quarters, who is believed to be a member of an armed robbery syndicate that operates along the Maiduguri Road in Kano.

“During the operation carried out on May 28, 2025 at about 12:00 pm, a Toyota Sienna vehicle with two different number plates and a Qlink motorcycle were recovered from the suspect,” Kiyawa added.

He continued, “Earlier in the month, on May 8, operatives of the Command intercepted a black Opel Astra suspected to have been stolen.

The vehicle, which was loaded with textile materials and other goods, was abandoned by the suspect who fled the scene.”

The Kano Police image maker equally explained that “on May 21 at about 2:00 pm, police detectives recovered another set of stolen items, including a Hyundai Elantra, a Suzuki lady’s motorcycle, five electric motors, one alternator, two roller machines, and two mixer machines.”

He said that while investigations into all the cases are ongoing, the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigations.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, praised the efforts of the officers involved in the successful operations.

He reiterated the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.

“We remain committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents. These arrests and recoveries are a testament to the dedication of our personnel,” the Commissioner said.

The Command urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly to the nearest police station or through the emergency lines provided.
