Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, has applauded the Organisation for the Advancement of Anioma Culture for organising an annual cultural festival.

Oborevwori made the remarks on Monday during the 2025 Anioma Cultural Festival in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

The governor, represented by his deputy, Monday Onyeme urged Nigerians to uphold the cultural heritage bequeathed to us by our forefathers.

He said, “It gives me great pleasure to be here. More importantly, today, we are being entertained not just as part of activities to celebrate the risen Christ, but to appreciate our rich cultural heritage.

“What we are enjoying is the rich cultural heritage bequeathed to us by our forefathers, that is why we are happy that the OFAAC is organizing this annual event which symbolizes that in our time, we are also, leaving such behind for our children and the future generation.

“As a state, my administration is committed to engaging in progressive activities, encouraging our people, Deltans to bring our their best in whatever they are doing and above all, encouraging peaceful co-existence.”
The governor said the event was possible because of the relative peace being enjoyed in the state, calling on traditional rulers to continue to encourage peaceful coexistence in their domains.

In his welcome address, the National President of OFAAC, Mr Kester Ifeadi who paid tribute to the OFAAC founding patrons, the late Asagba of Asaba, Obi Prof. Chike Edozien and late Dr. Obi Martha Dunkwu noted that the journey started in 2003 when five Anioma sons came together looking for the best way to bring together the good people of Anioma.

He said, “These men saw our rich cultural heritage as the best vehicle in uniting the people. Since 2004, OFAAC has organized the annual cultural festival, bringing our people from the nine local governments to Asaba to showcase our rich cultural heritage.

“OFAAC is an organization of over two thousand volunteers spread across the nine local government areas of Delta North. Outside the cultural festival, which is the flagship, OFAAC also has the Micro Credit Scheme where soft credits are given to members to aid them in their businesses, especially farming.”
