The Chairman of the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council and traditional ruler of the Obosi kingdom in Idemili North Local Government Area of the state, His Majesty, Igwe Chidubem Iweka (Ogalagidi, Eze Iweka III) has commended the state governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo for his fight against insecurity in the state through the Anambra State Homeland Security Law.

Igwe Iweka said the governor’s fight against insecurity with the introduction of ‘Agunechemba’ and ‘Operation Udo-ga-chi,’ has started yielding positive results as normalcy and calmness have returned to the state, adding that “residents now sleep with their two eyes closed,” unlike what obtained in the past.

The monarch stated this in his palace in Obosi, during an interview with South-East PUNCH correspondent on Monday, while charging critical stakeholders and residents to support the governor in his fight to rid the state of criminal elements.

He lamented that before the latest onslaught against insecurity and criminalities by the governor, crimes such as kidnapping, carjacking, ritual killings, robbery and cultism, among others, had become almost an “epidemic” with residents confused and helpless.

Igwe Iweka further hailed the governor for the infrastructural developments being put in place by his administration in the state and many other projects across different sectors, even as he advocated that Soludo should be given the chance to go for a second tenure to enable him to complete the “monumental projects” he has started.

He said, “We are commending the governor for taking the bull by the horns through the establishment of ‘Operation Udo ga achi’ and ‘Agunechemba’ outfit has reduced crime to the barest minimum in Anambra State.

“Our governor, Prof. Soludo has done much on security, you all know that crime cannot be totally eradicated anywhere in the world, but at least through his wisdom, he created these outfits to tackle insecurity which we are all seeing that crime has drastically reduced to the barest minimum. Our state is now calm and normalcy has started returning.

“You know, security has always been a great challenge for us. It got to a level that crimes such as kidnapping, robbery and other criminalities became an epidemic and people were helpless. When the insecurity was at a bad stage, residents got to think that all along, the governor was idle as insecurity got so bad.

“But before the governor established ‘Agunechemba’ and ‘Udo-ga-chi’ he has not been idle. This is because I am an insider, and I know that even before this ‘Udo-ga-chi’ came on board, the governor has been organizing joint task forces, a combination of police, army, anti-cult, navy and so on, and they have been going to those flashpoints of criminality and unknown gunmen camps and all over the place, but security situation still got bad until ‘Agunechemba’ was launched.
