As Christians across the world celebrate Easter, former President Goodluck Jonathan, several state governors, and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, have called on Nigerians to embrace unity, peace, and national reconciliation.

In separate Easter messages, the leaders urged citizens to draw inspiration from the sacrifices and resurrection of Jesus Christ, stressing that the season presents a renewed opportunity to foster love, heal divisions, and recommit to the nation’s progress.

Former President Jonathan, in his Easter message, urged Christians and other Nigerians to leverage the lessons of Christ’s resurrection and imbibe the message of hope and victory over the nation’s current challenges.

Jonathan also called on Nigerians to remain positive and draw strength from Christ’s love and sacrificial death for humanity and his gift of salvation.

He reminded leaders to be selfless and embrace the virtues of servanthood, sacrifice, and passion for service as exemplified by Jesus Christ.

The former President said, “This day reminds us all of the sacrificial death of Christ for humanity and His gift of salvation and redemption to all believers.

“At Easter, we reflect on the power of Christ’s love, the gift of righteousness, and the triumph of hope over despair and every challenge in life.

“The death and resurrection of Christ on the cross awakens us to the boundless love of God towards us; a reminder of the possibilities faith in God offers to us on earth.”

“I urge all citizens to be encouraged by the story of the resurrection of Christ and the lessons of hope and victory that are contained in it. Let us recommit to pursuing peace and justice for all.”

In his Easter message, the Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, appealed to Nigerians to use the celebration to pray for the success of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The governor made the call in a statement released on his verified Facebook handle on Saturday to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, a symbol of sacrifice, renewal, hope, and joy.

Sani said, “This season calls us to embrace the core Christian values of love, sacrifice, and forgiveness. As we draw inspiration from these ideals, let us work hand in hand to build a more harmonious, peaceful and inclusive society.”

On his part, the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, reiterated his commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy and good governance to the people of the state.

The suspended governor, in his Easter message to the people of the state on Saturday, said, “Easter is a sacred season of reconciliation and unity. It is a time when the peace of Christ dwells richly in our hearts, restoring relationships, comforting the afflicted, feeding the hungry, and healing the brokenhearted.

“It is a time to reaffirm our shared belief that peace shall overcome war, and that even shattered dreams can find new life in the light of the resurrection.”

While expressing hope for a better Nigeria, the governor urged people of the state to continue to support President Tinubu.

He said, “I call on the good people of Rivers State to continue to support and align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of our dear President, His Excellency, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, while looking forward to a better tomorrow.”

Gombe State Governor and Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, Inuwa Yahaya, urged Christians to reflect on the values of sacrifice, hope, and renewal that define the season.
