The Trinity House Church, Lagos, has donated a N30m coaster bus to the Ikoyi Correctional Centre to ease the transportation challenges of conveying inmates to and from court.

According to a statement obtained by Saturday PUNCH, the donation was presented by the church’s Senior Pastor, Ituah Ighodalo, during a brief ceremony at the facility, as part of activities marking his birthday celebration.

Speaking during the presentation, Ighodalo said the gesture was driven by the church’s commitment to supporting societal reforms and ensuring that the less privileged, including inmates, are not forgotten.

“Our gesture promotes collaboration between faith-based organisations and government institutions. We believe spiritual bodies should support government initiatives while offering constructive feedback. By working together, we can encourage positive change and create a better world,” he said.

Ighodalo added that although the process of acquiring the bus came with several challenges, the church remained resolute in delivering on the promise made during his previous visit to the centre.

Receiving the vehicle, Deputy Comptroller of Corrections, Julius Ogueri, expressed gratitude to the church, describing the donation as timely and highly impactful.

He noted that the bus would significantly ease logistics for inmates who need to attend court proceedings, thereby speeding up justice delivery and rehabilitation processes.
