The founder of Air Peace, Allen Onyema, has celebrated the first woman to travel by air from Umuerim Umukparo in Mbala, Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State, Ms. Gold Chinyere-Ike.

The airline made this known through a statement signed by its Head of Corporate Communication, Ejike Ndiulo, and made available to The PUNCH on Wednesday.

Ike, a graduate in Nursing from Abia State University, trended on social media last week after sharing her joy of flying in an aircraft, claiming she was the first to do so in her community.

She posted on TikTok, saying, “When we were on air, I could see the sky differently,” she wrote. “Down here, we look up to the sky. But when you’re flying, it’s almost like the sky is beneath you. I couldn’t stop thinking about how such a heavy plane could stay up there.”

According to her, flying in an aeroplane had been a lifelong dream.
She added that she had watched planes soar above her village with her father, imagining “fantastical stories of gifts falling from the skies.”

In celebration of her experience with Air Peace Airline, the airline’s Corporate Communications team travelled to Mbala to meet Ms. Ike and her family to deliver the message of the airline’s founder.

The statement stated that the representatives of the Chairman and CEO of Air Peace presented Ms. Ike with two complimentary return economy class tickets to any domestic destination of her choice, along with branded gifts.

The airline founder described Ms. Ike’s story as emblematic of the airline’s core mission.

The delegation told Ike that her “journey represents exactly why we do what we do. Air Peace was founded not just to provide safe and affordable air travel, but to make flying accessible to all Nigerians regardless of background. When people move, dreams move with them.”

Beyond the personal story, Air Peace emphasised that Ms. Ike’s experience aligns with the airline’s broader mission to democratise air travel in Nigeria.
