The Inspector General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, on Friday assured a renewed war against insecurity in the country.

This was disclosed in an event on Friday which saw the Federal Government’s contracted private pipeline surveillance outfit, Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, hand over a newly built Divisional Police Headquarters to the Nigeria Police.

Residents of the Ugborikoko community in the Uvwie Local Government Area witnessed the commissioning of the newly built Ugborikoko modern police station, which was built and furnished by TSSNL.

The complex comprised state-of-the-art facilities, including a constructed quarter guard post, a dedicated generator house, drainage construction to ensure a healthy and safe environment, and reconstruction of the police hall, giving it a modern and functional design.

The commissioned project also included two Hilux vehicles for operational mobility, a 30 KVA soundproof generator and a 30 KVA solar system to ensure uninterrupted power supply, CCTV cameras and computer systems to enhance surveillance and digital operations, television sets, air-conditioning units, a fully equipped conference room and an interrogation room.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, represented by the AIG Zone 5, AIG Salman-Dogo Garba, said, “The new police station is not just a place where officers will work but also a place where the people can engage positively with the Police, and work together to build a safer and stronger community to route out insecurity in the society.”

The IGP thanked Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited for making the project possible, stating, “The donation also reflects not only a commitment to the well-being of the community but also a deep trust in the role the police force plays in maintaining peace, law and order.”

Also addressing the forum, the Managing Director of TSSNL, Kestin Pondi, declared, “This occasion is not merely the unveiling of a new building for the police but a celebration of our shared commitment to safety, security, and community development.”

“As a private security company with local roots and global reach, Tantita SSNL understands that no society can thrive without peace and security.

“We also know that peace and security is a result of collaboration between the community and the government. And the first line of defence in preserving peace in Nigeria is the Nigeria Police Force.

“Therefore, our decision to rebuild this police station is a mark of our commitment to rebuilding peace in Warri and improving the security of life and property for all residents in Warri, Effurun, and its environs.

“I want to take a moment to celebrate the men and women of the Nigerian Police Force who are the unsung heroes of our security. They are the reasons why we chose to invest in this important project — to give back to the community and to support the tireless men and women who work daily to keep our neighbourhoods safe and secure.

“The decision to rebuild the Ugborikoko Divisional Police Station was borne out of a recognition that security infrastructure matters. A secure, functional, and decent work environment boosts morale, enhances operational effectiveness, and strengthens public confidence in law enforcement.”

Also in attendance at the event was the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, represented by the Secretary to State Government, Dr Kingsley Emu, as well as the State Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda; the representative of the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Johnson Adenola; and other senior officers, including two Deputy Commissioners of Police, Assistant Commissioners of Police, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ugborikoko Division, CSP Temi Agbede Zuokuomor, traditional rulers and religious leaders, among others.
