In a strategic push to drive inclusive economic growth and enhance trade prospects in Northern Nigeria, the Zamfara State Investment and Property Development Company Limited has signed a partnership agreement with Duchess Marketplace to facilitate technology transfer and capacity-building initiatives for micro, small, and medium enterprises in the state.

A statement by the investment company on Thursday said the partnership was initiated by the Managing Director of ZSIPDCL, Hajia Mariam Yaro, and the Chief Executive Officer of Duchess Naturals Limited, Dr Victoria Akai.

Both organisations agreed to partner towards advancing trade promotion, mobilising foreign and local investments, developing MSMEs, and facilitating technology transfer.

It noted that the landmark partnership will facilitate the development of agro-processing hubs across the state, enhance market access for Zamfara-sourced commodities, and actively promote the inclusion of local entrepreneurs—particularly women and youth—into national and international value chains.

Commenting on the deal, the ZSIPDCL director said the deal is part of the state government’s plan to reposition Zamfara as a thriving destination for investment.

“This partnership is a testament to our commitment to reposition Zamfara as a thriving destination for investment and enterprise. Through this collaboration, we will unlock economic opportunities and create sustainable jobs for our people,” she stated.

On her part, the CEO of Duchess Naturals Limited emphasised the importance of inclusive trade ecosystems and local capacity building.

“We are honoured to partner with Zamfara State to support commerce-driven development. By building strong value chains and connecting rural producers to global markets, we are contributing to long-term economic transformation.”

The statement further elaborated that the partnership will concentrate on several key strategic areas, including the mobilisation of both domestic and international investments.

Other benefits include “the development and enhancement of logistics and trade infrastructure; collaborative participation in trade missions and expos; structured consultation and capacity-building programmes tailored for MSMEs in Zamfara; and the robust promotion of Zamfara-made products through a combination of digital platforms and traditional physical marketplaces.”
