A concerned parent has raised alarm after her young daughter, a preschooler, reportedly soiled herself at school , allegedly because of a warning issued during a school assembly that discouraged children from defecating in school.

The parent who shared a video of her conversation with the headmistress, on TikTok with the username #alagatosmart on Thursday was heard explaining that her daughter, a preschooler, interpreted the assembly directive as a strict instruction not to poo at school under any circumstance.

The incident, which unfolded at an unnamed preschool, gained public attention after the mother, identified by her TikTok username #alagatosmart, shared a video of her conversation with the school headmistress on Thursday.

In the video, the mother explained that her daughter had taken an instruction issued during a school assembly literally, believing she was not allowed to use the toilet at all.

In the video, she was heard saying, “My kids told me that you told them on the assembly ground that they should not poo in school and as a preschooler, that is what she understands, that they have been told not to poo in school again. So when she felt pressed she could not come to the teacher that she wants to poo.

An audio recording of the headmistress’s response was also included in the video. The school official, while addressing the parent’s concern, appeared dismissive at first, citing her busy schedule with school exams.

She said “Please I am busy with exams, so let’s cut to the chase. Are you on the school platform? Did you see the last message I posted about the frustrations of the cleaners concerning the way the children are going in and out of the toilet?

She further reminded the parent of previous discussions around the shortage of cleaning staff, a challenge she attributed to broader national issues.

“I remember vividly you were one of the parents that came to the office to complain about the lack of cleaners in the school and did I or did I not tell you some of the challenges that we are having now in the country as regards certain jobs. Listen to me, ’cause I am getting somewhere, the last message I posted on the platform was to advise parents that as much as possible they should try and toilet train their children.”

She also expressed dismay that the child had soiled herself so early in the day, “Your daughter came to school and I think it was nine o’clock and I was shocked that by nine o’clock in the morning she had already messed herself up.
