The recent appointment of Bayo Ojulari as the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has continued to attract commendation from key stakeholders.

In separate statements on Monday, a member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, Abdullahi Hashim, and the leadership of the Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas hailed President Bola Tinubu for appointing a seasoned oil and gas expert to lead the national oil company.

They expressed confidence that Ojulari’s experience would usher in a new era of accountability, transparency, and productivity at the NNPCL.

Hashim, who is also a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, said the decision reflected global best practices and aligned with the goal of sustainable energy security and economic development.

In a statement made available to The PUNCH on Monday, Hashim stressed that the vast experience of the new NNPCL boss and other members of the board would bring about a transformative era and efficiency in the operations of the firm.

He said, “It is refreshing to note that individuals with vast engineering, technical, and leadership experience are now at the helm of the NNPCL.

“I wish to say with a high sense of responsibility that the appointments aligned with global best practices in energy governance.

“The strategic appointments were pivotal to achieving sustainable energy security, infrastructural growth, and economic development.”

He commended the President for appointing individuals with the requisite knowledge to the board of NNPCL stressing also that the appointments of Ahmadu Musa Kida and other members of the board were a step in the right direction.

Similarly, HOSTCOM declared the appointment as “timely and necessary,” adding that Ojulari’s leadership would likely raise daily oil production beyond two million barrels.

It expressed confidence that Ojulari’s outstanding and vast experience in the oil and gas sector would certainly reshape and reposition the NNPCL for greater productivity.

At a press conference held in Warri, Delta State, on Monday, HOSTCOM, through the National Secretary, Dr Joshua Ojie, noted that “NNPCL under Bayo Ojulari will witness significant progress that will translate to increase in oil production above 2 million barrels per day.

“Bayo Ojulari and the new management team will restore the integrity of NNPCL. With Bayo Ojulari as GCEO, we are looking forward to seeing a reorganised and rebranded NNPCL that Nigerians would be proud of.”

The group, however, appealed to the President to appoint someone from the Niger Delta as Managing Director of NNPC Exploration and Production Limited.

It noted that there were competent and qualified indigenous people of the Niger Delta to occupy the position.

The HOSTCOM leaders assured the President that appointing a Niger Deltan as Managing Director of NNPC Exploration and Production Limited would help to achieve his desire to boost oil production in the area.
