A nationwide protest led by the Take-It-Back Movement and other civil society organisations has commenced in Abuja.

The demonstration, which kicked off on Monday, April 7, 2025, is aimed at drawing attention to the alleged misuse of the Cybercrime Act, the worsening economic hardship in the country, and what organisers have described as a “state of emergency” in Rivers State.

Protesters gathered in the nation’s capital, wielding placards with various inscriptions such as “Stop the Repression” and “Let Us Breathe,” among others.

Human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, was sighted at the protest ground, lending support to the cause.

In a statement issued on Friday, TIB’s National Coordinator, Juwon Sanyaolu, said the protest was necessary to resist what he called the “increasing authoritarianism” of the government and to demand relief for Nigerians amid biting inflation and insecurity.
