Former Vice President and 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, has expressed his heartfelt condolences over the passing of prominent Islamic scholar, Sheikh Idris Abdul’aziz Dutsen Tanshi.
In a tribute shared via his verified Facebook page on Friday, Atiku described the late cleric as a respected scholar and a passionate advocate for peace and unity within the Muslim ummah.

“He was a beacon of knowledge and wisdom whose teachings impacted countless lives,” Atiku said.

He highlighted Sheikh Idris’s final message, which emphasized the vital need for peaceful coexistence among Muslims, as a reflection of the scholar’s lifelong commitment to harmony and understanding.


Atiku commended his unwavering dedication to Islam, his moral compass, and the enduring legacy he left behind.

“This is a profound loss not just to his family and the Bauchi community, but to all of humanity,” he stated.

He prayed for Allah (SWT) to grant Sheikh Idris eternal rest in Al-Jannah Firdaus and offered prayers for strength and comfort to his family and loved ones during this period of mourning.

DAILY POST reports that the prominent Islamic cleric died after a prolonged illness.

He passed on Thursday at 68 shortly after returning from India where he had gone for medical treatment.

The cleric’s death was announced on an official Facebook page of his mosque, Dutsen Tanshi Majlis Bauchi.

His funeral has been scheduled to take place at Games Village Eid Ground, Bauchi, Friday.
