The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Gombe State Command, has explained why it deployed 900 personnel to ensure a hitch-free Eid-el-Fitr celebration in the state.

This was contained in a press statement signed by the Public Relations Officer SC Buhari Saad on Thursday, quoting Commandant Gyama Gyawiya, the State Commandant of the NSCDC.

The statement which read in parts noted: “We are committed to ensuring a peaceful and secure environment for all Muslim faithfuls and residents of Gombe during the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.”


Arewa PUNCH reports that the deployment is aimed at securing worship grounds, managing traffic, collaborating with other agencies, protecting lives and property, securing critical assets, and maintaining law and order throughout the state.

It added, “We will leave no stone unturned in our efforts to ensure a peaceful and secure celebration. We urge all residents to cooperate with our personnel and report any suspicious activities to the nearest security agency.”

The statement further disclosed that “the deployment was part of the Corp’s commitment to public safety and security, particularly during festive periods.”
